The Middle School Math curriculum will continue to use Larson/Boswell's Big Ideas Math curriculum for the 2024-2025 academic school year. The Big Ideas Math series has been very successful for our students and will continue to enhance their mathematical development.  All Grade 6 through Geometry Honors students can access the ebook through the Benjamin webpage.  Students will not receive a hard copy of the mathematics textbook for home use. Ms. Scotten:
Math 6: Students have completed Chapter 10: Data Displays. We will review the material, and then students will take their chapter test on their respective block, 4/29 or 4/30. To finish the week, we will complete a culminating project.

Coach Laz:
Math 6: Students have completed Chapter 10: Data Displays.  Students should expect a quiz on sections 10.3-10.5 on Monday, 4/28, and the Chapter 10 Test on Tuesday, 4/29.

Adv Pre 6:  Students have completed Chapter 10: Volume and Similar Solids. The Chapter 10 Test will be on Tuesday, 4/29 (C period) and on Wednesday, 4/30 (G period)

Mrs. Jackson:
Adv Math 6: Chapter 9 on Statistical Measures is going well. 6th graders' second quiz will be scheduled for Friday, May 2nd. Test on Tuesday, May 6th.

APA  Math 8:  Chapter D, Geometric Shapes and Angles, will start the week of April 28th. We will not have a quiz that week, but will plan on one the following Wednesday, May 7th.

Mr. Marcantonio (Ms. Latimer, Mrs. Hudson)
Pre-Alg (7):  At the beginning of this week, students will reinforce their ability to compute simple interest.  Mastering this skill will open the door to a Percent Project.  The individual project will have students creating a food truck menu that delves into cost and revenue analysis, making the learning experience interesting and fun.

Adv Pre-Alg (7):   This week, students will begin working with volumes of three-dimensional figures.  A quiz will be given on Thursday on E.4 (Volume of Rectangular and Triangular Prisms) and E.5 (Volume of Pyramids).  Friday, students will jump into E.1, Surface Areas of Prisms.

Mrs. Hudson/Mrs. Perez:  Alg 1 Honors (8): We have begun our last Algebra unit for this academic year,  Chapter #9, Solving Quadratic Equations. The goal for this unit is to understand how to solve quadratic equations. This very detailed chapter relies heavily on previously learned material from chapters 6-8. I am available for help every day, and if scheduled ahead of time, I could come in the morning. I enjoy my time in the classroom and hope they are doing the same. Mrs. Hudson

Mrs. Hansen
Alg 1 Honors (7):  We continue working on Chapter #9, Solving Quadratic Equations. The goal for this unit is to understand how to solve quadratic equations.  We will continue to use previously learned material to master our objectives. Students should review their daily notes to better understand the material presented. All students are welcome to meet with Mrs. Hansen before school or during Study Hall for additional help. Geometry Honors (8): We have begun our last Geometry unit for the year, Chapter #11  Circumference, Area, and Volume.  The goal for this unit is to understand circumference, area, and volume with various problem-solving methods, including formulas, and surface area. We will continue to use the Trigonometry formulas taught in Chapter #9 while solving this material.  Students would benefit by reviewing their notes, the vocabulary, and their homework in order to be successful on their chapter test.  All students can meet with Mrs. Hansen before school or during Study Hall for additional help.
