11 US Students Named PB Dramaworks Playwriting Finalists

Eleven upper school student-artists were recognized for their creative playwriting talents and selected to participate in the prestigious Young Playwright Festival hosted by Palm Beach Dramaworks.

“This festival celebrates the best ten-minute plays written by high school students across Palm Beach County—and the competition grows fiercer every year,” said upper school Director of Theatre Jason Peck.

Each finalist received detailed feedback about their plays and will submit a final draft to the competition next Monday.

Of 20 total finalists across the country, 10 winning plays will be chosen. Winners will enjoy a professional staged reading of their play with theatre artists and will be published in an anthology of winning plays.

Head of School Dave Faus said it was wonderful to see the diversity of students “from all walks of the Benjamin experience” who were selected for the high honor.

“Please join me in wishing all of our finalists — and every student who submitted — a hearty ‘break a leg’ as they tackle this exciting next step in their creative journey,” Peck said.
