Spanish Level A: Señora Rios (Period A) and Señor Saccone (Period C)
Spanish A students practiced -er and -ir verbs. They completed a packet with various exercises to reinforce their understanding of -ar, -er, and -ir verbs. Students were also introduced to some expressions that are used with verbs in the infinitive form such as tener que, acabar de, and ir a. In addition, students continued to practice food vocabulary and created a collage featuring different types of food.
Spanish Level B - Señora Rios (Periods B, D ,E and G) and Señora Rivas (Periods B, F and G)
Students in Spanish B continue to learn new stem-changing verbs and have been introduced to the groups (o-ue, e-i.) Students are applying stem-changing forms to oral and written sentences and are working hard on mastering the conjugations. They are encouraged to review Spanish every day.
Spanish Level C - Señor Bernuy (Periods E and G), Señora Nappi (Period B) and Señora Rivas (Periods D and E)
This week, students in Spanish C focused on Indefinite and Negative Words. They began with an explanation using Google Slides and reviewed pages 240 and 241 in their Descubre 1 textbooks. Students practiced the new vocabulary and structures through activities on VHL Central and workbook pages 140 and 141. As homework, they completed a Reflexive Verbs worksheet to be reviewed in the next class. Students also watched a review video and completed additional workbook practice on pages 77 and 78. They were assigned to finish these pages at home. Later in the week, they were introduced to The Preterite of ser and ir through a new set of slides, and they completed a listening activity using the song “Te vas” to hear the preterite tense in context. Students will have a quiz on Indefinite and Negative Words.
Spanish Level D - Señor Bernuy (Periods B and C)
This week, students in Spanish D were introduced to the imperfect tense. They began by reading pages 28 and 29 in their Descubre 2 textbooks to explore the key concepts and uses of the imperfect. They completed a packet outlining the main rules, conjugations, and tense uses. Students participated in both guided practice activities. Together with the teacher, they corrected all exercises to ensure accuracy and asked questions. They also practiced using interactive games from Wordwall, which allowed them to reinforce what they were learning in a fun and engaging way on the board. Students also completed workbook pages 5 through 8 as homework to reinforce what they learned. Next week, students will take a quiz on the imperfect tense to assess their progress.
Accelerated Spanish Level D - Señor Bernuy (Period D)
This week, students in Spanish D Accelerated turned in their last journal entry about their DC Trip. They were encouraged to follow the rubric and use the preterite tense. They were also introduced to the imperfect tense. They began by reading pages 28 and 29 in their Descubre 2 textbooks to explore the key concepts and uses of the imperfect. To reinforce their understanding, they completed a reference packet outlining the main rules, conjugations, and tense uses. In class, students participated in both guided and independent practice activities. Together with the teacher, they corrected all exercises to ensure accuracy and address misunderstandings. They also practiced as a class using interactive games from Wordwall, which allowed them to apply what they were learning in a fun and engaging way on the board. To demonstrate their understanding, students completed workbook pages 5 through 8 as homework. These pages focused on identifying the imperfect, conjugating verbs correctly, and distinguishing between different uses in context. Next week, students will take a quiz on the imperfect tense to assess their progress and understanding.
