US Science Teacher Published In Peer-Reviewed Journal
Upper School science teacher Emilie Solomon was recently published in the Journal of Marine Education. Her work in the peer-reviewed journal, in collaboration with Mote Marine Laboratory, LSU, and Eckerd College, studied whether climate change alters the swimming behavior of larval stone crabs.
Solomon noted that many of her science students participated in the first pilot of this lesson last year in her marine science class.
“Their anonymous results are included in the Lesson Evaluation,” Solomon said.
Assistant Head of School Dr. Kristen Sheehan praised her work, saying it was “an impressive academic accomplishment” to be published in a peer-reviewed journal.
“It means that her work has been evaluated and assessed by well-respected experts in her field, which gives it credibility and adds to our overall understanding of the topic,” Sheehan said.
