The Student Services Department hosted guest speaker Jamie Bond Ciancio, Director of Advancement and Communication for Place of Hope, Thursday morning as part of the school’s annual speaker series.
Ciancio, former chair of the Human Trafficking Coalition of the Treasure Coast and Okeechobee, spoke to parents about protecting children both on and offline. Ciancio provides education and awareness presentations throughout the community to help parents protect their children from cybercrime and exploitation.
“Jamie brought a wealth of knowledge to our parents on the important subject of keeping our children safe online and beyond,” said Director of Student Services (PK3-8) Susan Poncy, who helped spearhead the program. “She spoke to the parents about cyber crimes, child abuse, and exploitation, and their prevalence in our local area. She also explained ways to identify if this might be happening and shared valuable information about ways parents can teach and protect their children.”
