Varsity Boys Track Wins State Championship In Three-Peat Performance
The Benjamin varsity boys track and field team cinched the State championship for the third year in a row, joined by the varsity girls team who placed fourth out of 54 schools.
“This is a landmark achievement that has not been accomplished in Benjamin’s history,” said Assistant Athletic Director Dave Bailey.
The boys’ team significantly outpaced the competition, scoring 89.5 points across the day’s events - nearly double that of Indian Rocks Christian (48), their closest competitor. Jackson Hamilton, Robert Letsche, Josh Luiz, Cooper Sukhu, Michael Winfield, and Julian Luiz all took home gold-medal finishes.
Bailey congratulated the student-athletes, while acknowledging the sacrifices their parents and coaches made to get them to the championship.
“Practice, meals, bus rides, and the moments under the tents for extended hours would not have been possible without your diligence for this dynamic group of kids,” said Bailey.
“Without your support in place, your children would not have the smiles they have today,” he said.
Bailey thanked the coaches for their tremendous efforts in preparing the team this season.
“Your ability to pull out the best in these student-athletes is commendable. Thank you for your devotion to The Benjamin School and this one-of-a-kind team,” he said.
