Four US Theatre Students Win Prestigious Playwrights Award
Four Benjamin upper school students were named winners of the prestigious Palm Beach Dramaworks Young Playwrights Festival - a first in school history.
“Multiple plays were selected as winners, cementing our school as a powerhouse of creativity and artistry,” upper school theatre director Jason Peck said of the win.
Fredericka D’Loughy, Rachael Rotter, Sean Sheehan, and Ford Cash all took home first place wins. Jonathan Mankin was recognized as runner-up in the festival.
“This year’s contest saw entries from across Palm Beach County, with only ten plays chosen as winners. Our students’ achievements are a testament to their talent, passion, and hard work—qualities that have made this our fifth consecutive year with a winning play,” Peck said.
The four winners will now have the opportunity to collaborate with professional actors, directors, and playwrights to refine their scripts before a professional staged reading at Palm Beach Dramaworks on Wednesday, March 12, at 7:00 p.m.
Their plays will also be published in the festival’s anthology.
“We are so proud of every student who submitted a play this year. Your courage, creativity, and dedication are what make our community thrive,” Peck said.
