Upper School Play Nominated for 8 Cappies

The upper school’s Fall play The 39 Steps was nominated for eight South Florida Cappies Awards, including Best Play, in recognition of the outstanding performance.

“This year saw more schools participating in the Cappies than ever before, which makes these nominations even more of a standing-ovation-worthy accomplishment,” said upper school theatre director Jason Peck. “Our cast and crew brought their A-game, and the critics noticed!

In addition to the “best play” category, the production was nominated for best leading actor, best supporting actor, best comic actor, best featured actor, best stage management and crew, best costumes, and best props.

“This crew tackled fast-paced farce, wild technical challenges, and a whole lot of physical comedy—and made it look easy. (Spoiler: it’s not.) We couldn’t be prouder of the heart, hustle, and humor they brought to the stage,” said Peck.

Nominees will attend the Cappies Gala in May at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts where winners will be announced and the crew will perform a scene from The 39 Steps live on stage.
